Meet the Chef

Chef Phillip Dovalina, a California native, began his culinary journey with a focus on Baking and Pastry Arts. However, his passion quickly shifted to the savory side of cooking, leading him to hone his craft in the kitchens of country clubs and luxury hotel resorts. With years of experience in high-end culinary environments, Chef Dovalina developed a refined approach to flavor and presentation that reflects both creativity and precision.
In 2020, during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, Chef Dovalina made a life-changing move to Western North Carolina. Drawn by the region’s natural beauty and welcoming community, he found inspiration in the mountains and decided to make it his permanent home. Today, he continues to bring his culinary expertise to the area, blending his West Coast roots with Appalachian charm.

To place an order, contact our catering office between 9:00 am - 5:00 pm at 828-227-3969 or catering@wcu.edu. Whenever possible, all catering orders should be placed 7 business days prior to your event. While we make every effort to accompany last minute orders, we cannot guarantee your first-choice selections can be fulfilled.
